Stunning winter photo of Reine - Norway |
Reine is a fishing village and the administrative centre of the municipality of Moskenes in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the island of Moskenesøya in the Lofoten archipelago, above the Arctic Circle, about 300 kilometres (190 mi) southwest of the town of Tromsø. The 0.33-square-kilometre (82-acre) village has a population (2011) of 329. The population density is 997 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,580 /sq mi). Reine Church is located here and it serves the northern part of the municipality.
Reine has been a commercial centre since 1743. Today tourism is important, and despite of its remote location, thousands of people visit this village annually. The village is situated on a promontory just off the European route E10 highway, which passes through the village. Reine is located immediately to the south of Sakrisoya and Hamnøya.
The largest weekly magazine in Norway (Allers) selected Reine as the most beautiful village in Norway in the late 1970s. A photograph over Reine from the mountain Reinebringen has been used for the front page of several tourist brochures and books.
Reine, Norway - Travel info
If you wanna go to Reinte, you must know this. To Reine you can use two options for flight. Firs is flight from Leknes, Norway - Leknes (LKN) /20 mi/ or you can fly from Bodo, Norway - Bodo (BOO) /57 mi/. On the Reine you can find two excellent hotels, and these are: Eliassen Rorbuer - Hamnoy, Reine 8390 , Norway; and Guesthouse Det gamle Hotellet - Reine centre, Reine 8390, Norway.
Eliassen Rorbuer
In the Eliassen Rorbeur cabins are located between the small harbour, the Fjord and a huge
bit of rock. The cabin we stayed in was to a very high standard, and with cabin overlooking the harbour. The kitchen was well equiped,
although you never used it. You can eate at the restraunt near the entrance to
the site. The staff were very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. This is probably one of the most beautiful locations in southern Lofoten.
Guesthouse Det gamle Hotellet
Here is a one review of this hotel, writen on the Trip advisor, who expainder all what you wanna know about this great place.
"You can't find a better place than Reine in the Lofoten Islands, and
this place feels just like home! I really enjoyed this stay and Lilian's
welcoming. It is great to be able to have tea (and not the cheap one!),
and coffee whenever you want in the little living room. The
location is perfect when you do not have a car (a little shop right in
front of the house, and 2 restaurants and 1 coffee which is way more
than you can hope for in the Lofoten!)".
This is such a beautiful village where everyone should visit once in his/ her life to see the actual beauty of nature. It’s true that Reine had selected as the most beautiful village in Norway in the late 1970s. I can say that with full faith because I have visited there before hop on hop off dc tours. Reine is a girl's name has the meaning of "queen". This village is as beautiful as queen was at old times. So must go there and enjoy.
